The End

December 31st, 2007

I started writing at this domain way back in 2000. At the time, I had recently moved from California to Georgia, and was looking online for some sense of community. I eventually found that kinship, forming relationships with people all over the state and beyond. Blogging became a big part of my life, and for a while I didn’t go a day without writing at least something. In fact, I consider my overall writing and critical thinking skills much stronger today because of all the things I’ve written (and thought about) on this blog.

That said, I’ve recently begun to wonder exactly what it is I’m trying to do here. I’m busier than i was when I started all of this back in the early 00’s and I already do have a social life apart from blogging. That means it’s harder to post something every day — especially something that’s worth other people reading. I also don’t feel like sharing as much personal detail about my life or even my thoughts as I did back when I started the blog. Too many people I know — not necessarily friends — read this for me to feel all that comfortable about opening up like I used to. The two factors above are some of the reasons my posts have dropped off so much over the past year or so.

Rather than drag this blog-death out, then, I’ve decided to definitively end monotonous dot net. I’ve really enjoyed writing here, and I appreciate all the folks who read my content — and especially those of you who commented. Thank you for encouraging me to continue this for as long as I have. Take care - maybe we’ll meet online again in some other capacity. If you want to e-mail me, my address is joseph [-at-] monotonous.net.
